We humans like to think of ourselves as highly evolved creatures. But if we are supposedly evolution’s greatest creation, why do we have such bad knees? Why do we catch head colds so often-two hundred times more often than a dog does? How come our wrists have so many useless bones? Why is the vast majority of our genetic code pointless? And are we really supposed to swallow and breathe through ...

Its a very basic explanation but i do not think it removes the possibility of a natural population control. What causes homosexuality? No one knows. The field of genetics is vast in this day and age. Could it be enviromental factors causing genetic expression at an epigenetic level pushing individuals into the nonreproductive roles of child care to help reduce risk of overpopulation? Possibly. We don't really know what the purpose of homosexuality is. My opinion (note MY OPiNION) is that it serves some "purpose" for a species that is not clear. That is why it can be seen in multiple species not just humans. Is it naturally selected against in reproductive means? By the nature of it in a sense yes but that is natural selection not population control.

RIP Daniel and Richard. Thank you for carrying Darwins torch for all these years. Evolution is all around us. We all evolve as we age and we learn. Evolution seems as though it should be obvious. Its amazing that we can all overlook the obvious when we are bombarded with imaginary ideas. Darwin was a true scientist a followed the facts.

The poetry of science relies in whole on the clear discernable design . This is the salient point and one can delusionally shout out into the cosmos design is an illusion( like dawkins) while they and all things seen dance like stringed puppets to the clear discernable design.

I am always skeptical when people, who do not believe in a higher intelligence than human intelligence, cannot explain consciousness ‘the hard problem’ Is it fundamental or what about mind,, does it emerge with quantum events? If what is believed, that the micro and macro elements created and evolved consciousness, and somehow mind evolved from that, a clearer picture of how exactly that was done would help. As what is elemental is just physical life, what is it that gave rise to it, or how did life arise prior? Atheism depends a lot on belief, it leaves a lot to the imagination. It is easier to go with consciousness being primary, and that mind is material and emerged with quantum events. That the elements gave rise to either is a bridge too far for rational thought to make sense of, much less condone.

The fool has said in his heart there is no God. These men really do sound like fools with how they are not thanking God for their life but rather thanking the universe which had to be created. May God have mercy on them both before it’s too late.

If someone is really secure in their beliefs, then someone (i.e. me) telling them it's made up mythology really shouldn't bother them. The only reason religious people get indignant is because they really know that it's indefensible bunk.

Creationist hypocrites continue to demand levels of evidence from those of us who are science minded that they have no possibility of equaling from their own creationist position. They have one standard of evidence for their own assertions and a different standard, one impossible to meet, for science. I have ONE standard of evidence and no claim from religious science denying fools has ever met that standard

Material science is not poetry it investigates matter, what is elemental. It knows zero about consciousness ‘the hard problem of consciousness’ is it fundamental and mind, does it emerge with quantum events? Very little about forces and nothing about magnetism. Darwinism should not be extrapolated to be the origin or the nature of reality, as it just makes us dumb and dumber. We have to keep our consciousness and intellects free from this reductiveness and stop gazing at our biological navels. We do have consciousness, we do have minds, we are also elemental or physical, triune not one-dimensional. It is time to end the extrapolation of the views of a mid-nineteenth biologist to encompass the nature of reality and consequently limit it. The great minds of the ages must be turning over in their graves.

Prof. Dawkins caricatures classical theism in his book "The God Delusion." For example, he argues that God must be complex to create anything as complicated as the universe. I say that classical theists believe God is absolutely simple. They think he has no parts. Since any object needs a cause when that object has parts, the good professor's imaginary complex deity wouldn't be God. For classical thiests, God is the cause who makes each other object and event exist and enables it to cause what it causes. Since God is uncaused, he doesn't receive his existence. It's built in, if you will. Without God, there would be no universe since there would be nothingness. Dr. Hitchens astounded me when he debated Prof. William Lane Craig on whether God exists. Craig argued philosophically and scientifically. But his opponent didn't argue. Instead, he impressed the crowed with his eloquence. So, he seemed to ignore objections until he and Dr. Craig cross-examined each other. Would Hitchens have debated by reciting a poem by Tennison or Rilke? Dr. Harris says people don't have free will. If he believes that because he thinks our brains work deterministically, maybe he should conclude that deterministic events force me to believe I have free will. Supposing that deterministic event make him and me believe what we believe about free will, there will be no way to settle our disagreement. We'll have no may to tell who's right about free will, Dr. Harris or me.

When you realize that your brain and your science are like a simple limited progmram that cannot explain things like what was before the existance ... Then you must realize that tgere must be another type of science not owned by you and your brain is not equipped to accomodate , which can explain what basically you cannot explain . Human being is the top of intellegence and yet his science is so limited , so , what intelligence was there 14 billion year ago .... What intelligence was there before the 14 billion year of existance . Call it any thing , but it is true , it exists it is the programmer how designed the simple limited program.

  • @M.S7oct

Our brain is programized to work and understand through and within the context of existance only . that is why our science cannot and will never answer a simple question ...WHAT WAS BEFORE THE START ? We are programized to understand that before every moment there was a moment and so on ... Whatever our science discover will belong to the existance and will always fail to answer what was before the start , before the existance of the existance . there must come a point where everything runs by and is controlled by laws that our brain is not equipped to understand . This is how through science you can prove the presence of God .... When you admit that all your science can be applied only to serve you to benefit the universe ... But with no doubt there must be another science to explain what our science cannot explain . Call it GOD , Intelligence , Mystry , Just be sure it is there , exists , because our limited science is the proof for the undisputable fact that there must be other science , not owned by us , that explains things already present , and there exlanation is beyond our science. You believe in theories , mythology of science , like multiple universes , parallel universies , any theory without proof you can adopt it and imagine that it is scientific work , and imagine that science will grow one day to proof what basically cannot be proved ..... The only myth from your point of view that you cannot adopt is GOD . super intelligence ... Super power that designed what your science cannot prove . Allah says in the quran to people that whatever you look into the universe and try to use all your science to have an explaination other than GOD the creator , you will fail . That is true ... All your science cannot explain what was before .... Something beyond our science , but real and there must be another type of knowledge that explains it That is GOD

Harris discusses free will and though we haven’t got free will, we are able to overcome it by acting as we would wish. It’s a factor of acting as we want to rather than being guided by our automatic response. We are able to do as we wish, we just have to judge ourselves constantly and decide whether our actions lie within that which we would want.
